Mommy-the light of my life, everything to me. Thank you for giving me Luna, thank you for giving me life, thank you for my intense love of country, folk, rock, blues, zytigo music, and spoken folklore stories passed down through the generations.
Thank you for my intense love of cooking, cooking shows, and books. Thank you for my nursing ability, thank you for my ability to care, thank you for my superhuman power to love, thank you for being everything to me and to everybody that we’ve ever introduced you to. It is great sadness and gratitude that @rheawhitney and I announce our mother has transitioned to be with the Lord. Her fight was long and hard but she stuck it out! She is the epitome of LOVE, elegance, grace, sweetness, strength, kindness and care!

Everybody knew her as Aunt Mae, Miss Mae Wanda, Mrs. Mae, Mom, Ma, or Mommy!

My dad was a college president and had us moving around from city to city in the south. No matter what was happening publicly around us- she always made sure Rhea and I had as normal of a life as President’s daughters could.

She is the rock in the middle of our turbulent water, she is the sun shining on a beautiful day. Her personality, and joy radiated through everything she did.

Everyone loved her, everyone adored her, everyone wanted to cook and have her cooking; she was the bomb y’all ! If you think I’m an amazing mom NOTHING can top my mom ...she was THE LEGENDARY mom of moms.. just ask any of our friends and family and they’ll tell you!

Luna looks just like my mom as you can see. There are a couple things that I promised our family when she was passing:
1.) that I will take care of Rhea, Luna, our dad and @fish5071
2.) that I will always do it the slow and steady way and try to leave the original as best as I can.

We will celebrate you with love, laughter, music, food and bright colors just like you would want us to. Rhea and I are so blessed and honored to be yours and carry out your legacy! You lived for us! Now, we get to live for you!!

Do me a favor y’all drop your favorite memory of Mrs. Mae below so that we can always remember how incredible she was!

Estheticians are state licensed health and wellness professionals, who’s work involves preforming and recommending treatments and procedures to the skin to maintain it’s health and appearance!
