Ahhhh pasta, the soft, pillowy, dough with a bite that puts the comfort foods! Right now is a great time to experiment in the kitchen’ and I don’t know about you but the pasta in the pantry always calls my name! There are so many different spins, toppings and sauces for you to try that literally, the possibilities are endless. But, there is an art to stepping up your pasta culinary skills! The biggest one is Making sure pair your desired sauce to the right pasta shape and density makes alllllll the difference!
Thick Pasta
Thick sauce The thicker the pasta, the denser the sauce! Pastas like Fettuccine, Penne, Rigatoni, and Cavatappi can handle a thicker sauce. It’s time to break out the flavor with a hearty meat sauce such as a sausage basil sauce or a creamy shrimp alfredo! This is a great time to incorporate delicious cheeses to your pasta dish as well! Shredded Mozzarella, Romano, and Parmesan are great additions to create a creamy texture. Other great sauce ideas include Pesto and Carbonara!
Thin, Light Pasta
Your thinner, lighter pasta types such as Egg Noodles, Angel Hair, Capellini, Vermicelli, and Bucatini will thrive in a lighter, more delicate sauce! Think a delicious lemon-based herb sauce or a light olive oil dish with a Mediterranean flair! You don’t want to weigh down the delicate noodles with a thick sauce, so keep it light and fresh!
Stuffed Pasta
Stuffed pasta is sure to be a favorite! You can stuff shells, make homemade ravioli and stuff it with your choice of filling, or make a hearty lasagna! Use Manicotti, Large shells, or Lasagna noodles as your base! Choose a filling; ricotta cheese is always delicious in a stuffed pasta dish, along with plenty of Italian herbs!
Now that you’re armed with all the pastabilities (ha-ha!) you’re ready to enjoy a pasta dish that is sure to turn out delicious! Happy eating!
